Before you Travel

Bookings needed & things you can prepare in advance to make the most of your time once in Bangkok

Tickets & activities you NEED to book in advance

Most travelers who visit Bangkok want to visit the following attractions. I recommend to book them in advance to avoid long queues and to guarantee the availability.

The first tickets you have to book in advance are the ones for the sky deck of the King Power Mahanakhon skyscraper. It's better to avoid the queues of the people who want to buy the tickets there, keep in mind that it's one of the newest attractions in the city so lots of people want to go!

Dinner Cruise on the Chao Phraya Princess

This is a 2 hour cruise that takes you along the Chao Phraya river to see the most important landmarks of Bangkok. There's an open buffet you can feast from, a welcome fruit cocktail and a band that will be playing music during the trip!

Pick your Transfers & Transport Cards

When you arrive at Bangkok's International airport you'll have different ways to get to the city center. For me, the best way is one of these two, and you should book them in advance:

The cheapest door-to-door option: Shared Shuttle

With this service you'll have a private transport shared with other passengers. The cost depends on where you're going, but calculate from € 12.36 per person, and the time depends on whether the van is full of passengers or not, and if you're the first ones to be dropped off or the last ones.

Bangkok Shared Shuttle

Taxis: you can get a taxi either from the terminal building or from the Public Transportation Center (10 min away from the terminal with a free shuttle bus). There's often a huge queue of people waiting for a taxi, so I would suggest booking a private car beforehand. The trip will take from 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the traffic and your destination. Also, besides what the taximeter sums up, you'll have to add a 50 baht airport surcharge.

The most comfortable door-to-door option: Private Transfer

If you book the Private Transfer service you'll have a driver waiting for you at the Arrivals Hall to take you directly to your accomodation. The price depends on how many people there's in the group and the luggage, but calculate around €30 per group of up to 2 people. It takes around 1 hour to get to destination.

Bangkok Private Transfer

Once in the city, there are different ways to move around. Choose between the BTS and MRT systems, buses, tuk-tuks, taxis and other options. One of the most different and fun ways to get to know part of the city is with a Hop-On Hop-Off boat tour through the Chao Phraya river. This boat allows you to get on and off at any of its 9 piers along the river, with stops that include Wat Arun and Pak Klong Taladd. The price goes from €5.94 for one day.
