Palau Güell

Charles says

This palace is not as visited as Casa Batlló or Casa Milà and from the outside it's not very special. However, in my opinion its interior is almost as impressive as Casa Batlló. Nevertheless, like any other Gaudí attraction I strongly recommend to book your tickets online in advance.

Palau Güell can also be visited with a guided tour that includes a Gótico walk, the Palau Güell visit and a tapas & drink break.

Information

Carrer Nou de la Rambla, 5, 08001 Barcelona, España

HISTORY

The Palau Güell -in English 'Güell Palace'- was built between 1886 and 1890 by Antoni Gaudí. It was the residence of the Güell-López family until they moved to Park Güell. The palace has a modernist style, and it belongs to the phase of Gaudí in which he was inspired by Oriental art, specifically from India, Japan and Persia, and the islamic-hispanic art.

For the construction of the palace the architect used noble materials, like stone, wood, wrought iron, ceramic, glass and others. Visitors can access the basement, the ground, mezzanine and main floors, the bedrooms, the attic and the rooftop.
