Sagrada Familia

Charles says

By far, the top attraction in Barcelona. You HAVE to book your tickets online, otherwise you won't enter or you will spend your day in a line.

Towers yes or not? In my opinion if you don't have budget problems, buy the ticket including the Nativity tower (there's a small bridge with nice views); if you have have a tight budget the basic entrance is enough.

Half-day guided visits: Following the itinerary you'll visit Sagrada Familia + Passeig de Gràcia Boulevard (Casa Batlló, Casa Pedrera...). Below, I suggest 2 great options (1 private & 1 organized tour) to better understand the magic world of Gaudí.

Carrer de la Marina, 253, 08013 Barcelona, España

HISTORY

The building of the catholic church, the Basilica and Expiatory Church of the Holy Family began in 1882. It was designed by the catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, who designed a structure with eighteen towers. In the beginning the style was neogothic, but throughout the years Gaudí began to combine it with an organic style inspired in the forms of nature, that makes it even more unique.

Before Gaudí's death in 1926 only one tower had been completed, but due to the conservation of the blueprints it can continue to be built based on what he had thought. Lots of artists are involved in its development and the money is raised from donations and visits. Its estimated that it will be finished by 2026.
