Casa Milà - La Pedrera

Charles says

The roof and the interior are beautiful. As it's one of the most famous sights of Gaudí, you MUST book in advance your tickets.

However, in order to make the most of your time, I recommend to visit it during the night visits & shows with a reduced group ( The Nights of La Pedrera , not available in winter)

For a premium experience, wake up early to be the first to enter and visit it with a reduced group.

Information

La Pedrera (Casa Milá), Provença, 261-265, 08008 Barcelona, España

HISTORY

Casa Milà, also known as "La Pedrera", was built by architect Antoni Gaudì between 1906 and 1912, after Casa Battló. The idea of the Milà family was to build a stately home where they would live in the main floor and the remaining ones would be rented to people and stores in the front.

La Pedrera has a modernist and naturalist style inspired in the organic forms on nature, so Gaudì studied in order to combine his style to the functionality of the building, as he did in Casa Battló. The front facade faces Passeig de Gracia and Povenza street, and it has a wavy form as if it molded sea waves and 33 balconies built in order to look like seaweed.
