The Dohány Great Synagogue, is the second largest synagogue in the world. It has a capacity of 2964 seats. It was built between the years 1854 and 1859 and it was based in arabic style, inspired from designs in North Africa and Southern Spain. 

During the Second World War it was bombarded and used as a German radio station and stables. After the war religious activity started again, but it wasn't until 1991 that the retauration started, taking 7 years to complete.

There's also a Museum that exhibits a collection of historical and religious objects.

Kids 6-12: 1200 HUF

Free for kids under 6 years old.

March 1 to April 25 and October 2 to October 25: Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 to 18:00 and Friday from 10:00 to 16:00.

April 28 to September 28: Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 to 20:00 and Friday from 10:00 to 16:00.

October 27 to December 31: Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 to 16:00 and Friday from 10:00 to 14:00. Closed on December 24 and 25.

Closed on Tuesdays.
