The Jim Thompson House-Museum is the house that belonged to Jim Thompson, an American spy, entrepreneur and silk trader. He lived in the city approximately for two decades, during 1950's and 1960's, but he disappeared misteriously in 1967 while he was in Malaysia. He built his own house in Thai style, with beautiful decorations in teak wood and a surrounding lush garden.

Thompson became a Southeast-asian art collector while he lived in Bangkok, so the house is full of paintings from Thailand, Cambodia, Burma and Laos, Buddhist statues, porcelain from China and other artwork.
