The East Side Gallery consists of a section of 1.3 kilometres of the Berlin Wall that's covered in art, making it an open-air art gallery. The paintings are usually refered to history and controversial subjects, and one of the most well-known is Dmitri Vrubel’s 'Fraternal Kiss', where he painted Honecker and Brezhnev in a brotherly socialist kiss.
It opened as a gallery on September 1990, after the wall came down, when 118 artists from 21 different countries started to paint the wall.
