The Chain Bridge is a suspension stone-bridge that connects Buda and Pest. It was opened in 1849 and it was the first permanent bridge that crossed over the Danube in Hungary. However, during the Second World War it was blown up by Nazis, together with all the bridges in Budaest, so it was rebuilt and reopened in 1949.
Its real name is Széchenyi, in honor of Count István Széchenyi who helped build it.
