The Gellért Hill is a hill that overlooks the Danube and Budapest. It's 235 metres high. It was named after Saint Gerard, the first Bishop of Csanád in the Kingdom of Hungary, who was thrown to death from the hill.

At the top of the hill is the Citadella, a fortification built due to its strategic location on the hill. It was built in 1851, the fortress has a U-shape and it had a complement of sixty cannons.
