Praça dos Restauradores

Information

Estação de Metro dos Restauradores, loja nº1, 1250-188 Lisboa, Portugal

The Restauradores Square is a famous square of Lisbon, located at the end of Avenida da Liberdade. It has a mix of architecture between the square itself and the buildings that surrounds it, with classical architecture of the 17th century and art deco buildings, like the Eden Theatre that's now a hotel.

Its name was given to commemorate the restoration of independence of Portugal in the year 1640, and that obelisk in its centre is there for the same reason.

The Elevador da Gloria is located in this square too. It consists of two carriages that go all the way up to Bairro Alto neighbourhood.
