House of Parliament tour

Monument

Palace of Westminster

Marc says

Did you know the Big Ben is actually the bell of the tower, and not the clock tower itself? The bell is inside Elizabeth Tower and it weighs 14 tons.

Information

9748 Abingdon St, Westminster, London SW1P 3JY, Reino Unido

The Palace of Westminster is also known as the Houses of Parliament because it's where the two houses of Parliament of the UK, the House of Commons and the Housr of Lords, meet.

The building has Gothic style and it has 1200 rooms and 11 courtyards. It was rebuilt in 1847, because in 1834 a fire burnt it down, to which only Westminster Hall, the Chapel of St. Mary Undercroft in the crypt and the Jewel Tower survived. One of the most famous features of the building are its two towers, Victoria Tower and Elizabeth tower with its clock.

The Palace has been the House of Parliament since 1512 and it was also a royal residence for William the Conqueror.
