Trafalgar Square is one of the main squares in the city. It has a statue of Admiral Lord Nelson in its center (who died in battle while in command of the British army), the Nationl Gallery on one of its sides and statues of famous people, such as George Washington.

The name of the square was given when it was built in 1830 in order to commemorate the Battle of Trafalgar, in which Britain won against France and Spain fleets.
