Shakespeare's Globe Theatre
Information
38 Bankside, London SE1 9DT, Reino Unido
Shakespeare's Globe Theatre is one of the most well- known theatre venues of the world, it's where William Shakespeare's theatre company performed.
The building is actually a detailed reconstruction of the original one, built some meters away from the original spot. The original one was built in 1559, it burst into flames during a performance in 1613, it was rebuilt and Shakespeare performed there until the year 1642 when the Puritans closed down all the theaters of the city. Finally, it was demolished 2 years later. The new Globe opened up to the public in 1997, thanks to actor and producer Sam Wanamaker, who wanted to honour Shakespeare with more than a plaque with his name, so he decided to rebuild the venue.
