The memorial and museum of September 11 commemorate the victims and people who helped to save others while risking their lives during the terrorist attacks of 2001 and 1993. The National September 11 Memorial & Museum is a non-profit organization, the money collected is intended to conserve both the memorial and the museum.
The memorial was built in 2011 and consists of two square pools with waterfalls located on the spots where the Twin Towers were erected. Bronze panels frame the pools showing inscriptions of the names of the people that died during the attacks.
The museum opened to the public in 2014 and it presents elements that belonged to the destroyed World Trade Center, testimonies of witnesses and multimedia screens with information. With all this resources visitors can get to know from the inside what happened on the 9/11 and what many people experienced.
