The Arc the Triomphe of Paris was built to commemorate the victory in the Austerlitz battle of 1805, by order of Napoleón Bonaparte. It was built between 1806 and 1836 in the western side of Champs Elysees, in the center of Charles de Gaulle Square.
On the outside of the arch there are inscriptions with the names of the generals that fought during the napoleonic wars, just as the names of those battles. It also has the tomb of an Unknown Soldier of the First World War, who is commemorated with an "eternal flame".
Visitors can climb to the top of the arch through a staircase to have views of the main monuments of the city of Paris.

The Arc the Triomphe of Paris was built to commemorate the victory in the Austerlitz battle of 1805, by order of Napoleón Bonaparte. It was built between 1806 and 1836 in the western side of Champs Elysees, in the center of Charles de Gaulle Square.
