The original purpose of this building was to be a hospital and retirement home for war veterans, and now it houses different museums: the Musée de l'Armée (the Army of France museum), the Musée des Plans-Reliefs (military models) and the Musée d'Histoire Contemporaine (museum of Contemporary History).

The complex also presents the tallest church in Paris, the Dôme des Invalides, with 107 meters of height. In this church visitors can find the tombs of war heroes of France, like Napoleon.

Single ticket for: Musée de l'Armée, Tomb of Napoléon, Historial Charles de Gaulle, Musée de l'Ordre de la Libération, Musée des plans-reliefs: €12 (full price) / €10 (reduced rate for everyone, every day from 5 pm in summer and 4 pm in winter, as well as Tuesday nights)

Free entry for under: 26s from within the EU, disabled visitors and an accompanying person, French and foreign soldiers, journalists and kids under 18.

Opening hours:

1 November-31 March: 10am- 5pm.

1 April-31 October: 10am-6pm. On Tuesday, from April to September, the Dome is open until 9pm. In July and August, the Dome is open until 7pm.

The Invalides site is open every day from 7.30am to 7pm (9pm on Tuesday from April to September).
