Information
Calle S. Bernardo, 25, 30141 Venezia VE, Italia
Murano consists of 7 different islands all linked together by bridges. The area has been occupied since the Roman times and inthe beginning they based their economy in fishing and the production of salt.
Nowadays, the island is known for its glassmakers but it wasn't until 1921 that they moved their production from Venice to this set of islands. When the Venetian Republic was established, the government ordered the glassmakers to move somewhere else because they feared that the fire would affect the wooden buildings.
