Bazylika Mariacka

Sofía says

You have to listen to it at least once during your stay! If you pay attention, you'll notice that it ends suddenly. That's because of another legend: in 1241, during the tartar invasion, a trumpeter was playing the melody that was the signal to close the doors of the city because the enemies were getting closer. In the middle of the melody, an arrow went through the throat of the trumpeter and killed him. So today, as a sign of memory, they stop playing the melody in the same moment in which that man was killed.

As for the church itself, I love its interior with blue ceilings!

Plac Mariacki 5 (31-042) Cracovia

St. Mary's Basilica was built in the 13th Century, but it was destroyed by a fire and rebuilt into what it is today, in gothic style.

Every day, every one hour a trumpeter plays the Heinal Mariaki, a traditional polish melody, from the tallest tower. It's played three times in a row, from three different angles: one in direction to Wawel Castle to honor the kings, the next one directed towards the City Hall to honor the people that work there and the third one in direction of Florian's Gate to welcome the visitors.
