The Belém Tower was originally built as a defense tower, but throughout the years it changed its function to lighthouse and customs center. Built between 1514 and 1520, it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983.

Nowadays, visitors can visit the tower and go through its different halls and the rooftop.

Opening hours: October to April Tuesday to Sunday  from 10:00 to 17:30.

May to September Tuesday to Sunday  from 10:00 to 18:30.

Closed on Mondays, January 1, Easter Sunday, May 1 and December 25.
