The name SoHo is the acronym of "South of Houston Street". In the past, the neighbourhood was inhabited by artists that had little money to pay the rent, so they trasnformed old warehouses and shops into their apartments.
Some time later the artists migrated to other neighbourhoods and boutique shops opened in the buildings. Nowadays, SoHo is an open-air shopping mall where visitors can find both boutique luxury shops and outlets of well known brands. Moreover, it has excellent restaurants and exclusive hotels.
