The Garden of the Royal Palace is located next to the Royal Palace, north of the Louvre Museum. The palace was constructed for cardinal Richelieu, not for the royalty, in 1633. After his death, the building was donated to the french crown and occupied by the Dukes of Orleans. It was Luis Felipe José de Orleans who decided to open the garden to the public. 

The garden is a place where visitors can rest on benches under the trees or stroll through its grounds. It also has contemporary-style sculptures and in the yard, close to the garden, the famous Buren columns can be found. They are 260 octagonal columns with black and white stripes, which were designed by the artist Daniel Buren.

Hours: October-March: every day, 8am-8.30pm. April-September: every day, 8am-10.30pm.
