Fontana di Trevi

Christian says

If you throw the coins and you want the myth to come true, you have to do it with your right hand over your left shoulder.

Information

Fontana di Trevi, Piazza di Trevi, 00187 Roma RM, Italia

The Trevi Fountain is a baroque fountain that's the largest in Rome and one of the most famous fountains in the world. The actual appearance of the fountain dates from 1762, but the origins of it go back to 19 B.C., when it was the end of the Aqua Virgo aqueduct.

It's name was given due to its location in the middle of a crossing of three streets. "Tre vie" means three streets in Italian.

It has appeared in many films, like Roman Holiday, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, Three Coins in the Fountains and La Dolce Vita. Actually, the myth of the coin-tossing comes from the Three Coins in the Fountain movie that explains: if you throw one coin you will return to Rome, if you throw two coins you'll fall in love with an attractive Italian and if you throw three you will marry the person that you met.
