HISTORY

The complete name of the Barcelona Cathedral is Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia. Saint Eulalia is one of the patrons of Barcelona, and she was martyred by the romans when she was thirteen years old. She suffered thirteen martyrdoms and in the end she was crucified in a cross that's now the symbol of the Cathedral. Her body lies in the cloister.

Building the Cathedral took approximately 150 years, between 1298 to 1420. Its style is a combination of gothic and neogothic, and the structure consists of the temple and the cloister. The main facade has two towers and a pinnacle, and its adorned with gargoyles and other gothic elements. The door of that facade has neogothic style and it faces the Cathedral square.

Free entrance from 8:00 to 12:45 and from 17:45 to 19:30 or 20:00.

Entrance with donation from 13:00 to 17:30 on work days and from 13:00 to 17:00 the rest of the days.

Saturdays, Sundays and holidays: 8:00 to 20:00
