Plaça de Sant Jaume
Charles says
There are 2 good sandwich bars in this square: Conesa (there's always a queue) and another tiny one in the opposite corner. Good options for a quick bite.
Information
Plaça de Sant Jaume, 1, 08002 Barcelona, España
HISTORY
The Sant Jaume Square is located in the Gothic quarter, in the center of Barcelona. It's the administrative center of the city, because the Palace of the Generalitat of Catalonia and the City Hall are located there. Previously, the Sant Jaume church was erected in this place, but it was demolished and moved to Ferrán street.
Celebrations and manifestations are often held on the square. In some occasions, for example during the festivities of the patrons of Barcelona, La Mercè and Saint Eulalia, a stage is placed in one part of Sant Jaume square where they have concerts and other shows. Also, the famous Castellers usually show their human towers here, typical in the catalan culture.
