Casa Amatller
Charles says
If you stay only a few days you won't have time to visit the inside. Keep it for your next time. There's a chocolate shop from Amatller's company in the ground floor.
Information
Passeig de Gràcia, 41, 08007 Barcelona, España
HISTORY
Casa Amatller was designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch for chocolatier Antoni Amatller. It has modernist style, combining catalan gothic and flamenco. It's one of the buildings that form the "Block of Discord": a square of Passeig de Gracia where there are five buildings designed by architects that had professional rivalry between them: Puig i Cadafalch's Casa Amatller, Gaudí's Casa Batlló, Domènech i Montaner's Casa Lleó Morera, Coquillat's Casa Bonet and Sagnier's Casa Mulleras.
Besides being visited by tourists, the Amatller Institute of Hispanic Art functions in the building. This foundation was created by Teresa Amatller, daughter of Antoni Amatller, and it contains a photo library of hispanic art and a specialized library.
