HISTORY
The Ciutadella park is a public park located in the district of Ciutat Vella. It was inaugurated in 1881 and it was designed by Josep Fontserè. It has approximately eighteen hectares of extension and it has different attractions. One of the most visited is the Monumental Cascade, a pond with two levels that has waterfalls and water faucets, a structure in the form of an arch, stairs and many sculptures. The scultpure that stands out is "La Cuadriga de la Aurora" made by Rossend Nobas and located on top of the arch.
On the grounds of the park there is a music roundabout, a parade ground, a zoo, the Castle of the three dragons and the Martorell museum. There is a lake in which visitors can rent boats to paddle, and it's surrounded by nature and green spaces where people can rest or have a picnic.
