HISTORY
The Vila de Gràcia, also known just as Gràcia, is a neigbourhood with its own identity. It has narrow streets, lots of them just for pedestrians, and it's full of little shops with design and artistic objects.
In the past, this neighbourhood wasn't part of the city, it was a town that only had some estates and three religious sites. It was in the year 1897 that it was finally joined together to the center through one of the most important streets of Barcelona: Passeig de Gràcia.
Gràcia is designed around its plazas: Vila de Gracia, Plaza del Sol and Plaza de la Virreina. The Gràcia population is an interesting mix of young professionals and artists and a growing elderly population.
