The Sacré-Coeur Basilica is probably the most famous building in the hill of Montmartre and its located at a height of 130 metres. Its style is roman-byzantine and it opened to the public in 1919. The Basilica still functions as a temple, it has mass celebrations and confessions.
In the interior of the structure visitors can see a crypt and also access the highest dome. From the top there are 360 degree views of Paris that extend to the horizon.
There are three ways to get to the Basilica: walking from Montmartre neighbourhood, climbing 197 stairs or paying for a funicular ride. The stairs are often full of people resting and admiring the city, especially during sunset.
