Before you Travel

Bookings needed & things you can prepare in advance to make the most of your time once in Prague

Tickets & activities you NEED to book in advance

The huge majority of travelers visit the following attractions. They need to be booked to avoid huge queues or to guarantee availability.

The first tickets you should book in advance are the ones for the Castle Complex. Visiting the Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral, St. George's Basilica and the other buildings are a must for first timers in Prague, so they're usually long lines to get in.

The second tickets you should buy in advance are the ones to enter the Old Town Hall in the Main Square. Visitors love to go inside because you not only get to see beautiful views of the city from the tower, but also the mechanism of the famous astronomical clock and the undergrounds.

Finally, you should check out the tours of the Jewish Quarter to decide which one you prefer. There are two different ones, one called Jewish Town of Prague and the other Jewish Museum of Prague. Both include the most important sights of the quarter, but the Jewish Museum of Prague ticket also includes the Old-New Synagogue.

Pick your Transfers & Transport Cards

There are different ways to get from International Václav Havel Airport to the city center. As it's a very touristic city I recommend booking your transport in advance so you avoid long lines and complications. For door-to-door options I recommend these Shuttle services:

The most comfortable and private door-to-door option: Private Transfer

If you prefer having the transport all to yourself and be on your way as soon as you meet your driver, you can book a private one which will leave you at the door of your accomodation in approx. 30 min. The price depends on the destination, but calculate approx. €29 per car.

Private Transfer Prague

The affordable door-to-door option: Shared Shuttle Transfers

With this shared shuttle service you'll meet your driver in the Arrivals hall and will be taken to the entrance of your accomodation in approx. 45 min. As it's shared, you may have to wait for other passengers, but the maximum time of waiting is 30 min. The price goes from € 8.50 per person.

Shared Shuttle Prague

Once in the city, you can use one of the best Public Transport systems in Europe, it has metro, trams and buses. There are different short-term tickets you can buy, depending on how long you'll need to use it for. A 30-minute ticket costs 24 CZK, a 90-minute ticket costs 32 CZK, a 24-hour ticket costs 110 CZK and a 72-hour ticket costs 310 CZK.

If you prefer a more comfy & panoramic option, you could always go on the Hop on - Hop off buses. They allow you to get on and off at the different stops it has in major attractions. Tickets are valid for 24 or 48 hours and it has 3 lines with stops throughout the city. The price goes from 578 CZK, (22 €) per person.
