State Hall of National Library of Austria - Öffnungszeiten Prunksaal

Miguel says

I didn't expect much the first time I went there, but it's a marvelous place! It also has some books and papers exhibited explaining what they are.

Information

Josefsplatz 2, 1010 Wien, Austria

The State Hall of the National Library of Austria is one of the most beautiful and interesting library rooms in the world. It was built in the 18th century in baroque style and it's home to over 200.000 tomes.

The books are divided in two opposite sections, "war" and "peace", and that is also reflected in the wall frescoes.

The hall is decorated with several elements: it has marble statues of emperors, four large Venetian globes with a diameter of one metre each and some frescos on the dome and ceilings.
