HISTORY
The Passeig del Born connects the antique Born Market and the Santa María del Mar church. Its elongated shape is because in the past it was used for jousting of knights and tournaments. It also hosted the Easter processions and the Carnival celebrations.
In the 16th Century the walk was the scenery where victims of the Inquisition were executed, and in 1714 it was occupied by Felipe V's troops after the siege of Barcelona.
Nowadays it's very popular during the night, lots of people visit its many bars and terraces.
